Bob Kenward has pointed out that the Woodshed sesions in The Wrotham Arms during the Broadstairs festival won't start until later, as Jen has bands booked in at lunchtimes. I'll keep you posted.

About Friday Folk

Twenty years ago, not much happened on a Friday night. Having met Triality, and visiting Orpington Folk Club, we thought a bit of folk singing in the bar would entertain the bar staff and bring in a few more punters. We had a short list of local performers who took it in turns to sing for the beer money. One of these was our old mate Dave Bryant. We also had John Smedley to help us get started.  Soon, word got around and folkies started coming along. I took over the bookings in 1988 and soon graduated to booking more requested guests. Inevitably, we outgrew the bar and moved into the adjacent hall, where we still hold our evenings.

So what format does Friday Folk Have?

Most evenings we have a guest. On these nights the residents take it in turns to M.C. We have quite a few residents, and those that come are given priority on guest nights, plus an evening of their own spaced throughout the year.

Floor singers

We will try to fit people in on a guest night, but you must be prepared to play only one song. It is probably best to let us know well in advance if you want a spot on a guest night. Phone or text Sue on : 07753518425 or e mail before Thursday... suetuckeyfridayfolk@yahoo.co.uk

Occasionally we have singers nights. Everyone is welcome to those. Anyone with a box that isn't a guitar will always be welcome. Whilst browsing Dartford's website I found some sound advice for floorsingers supplied by Dick Gaughan. I have added this site to the links. Enjoy!!!!
